What We Offer You

A Professional Collegial Environment

You will join an organization that is  professional and career-oriented, with colleagues who are keenly interested in developing their audit skills and broadening their professional experience. The Office staff of 90 is multi-disciplinary, including qualified accountants and those with post-graduate degrees in other disciplines, such as lawyers, statisticians, sociologists, environmental specialists and economists.

A Prestigious Office

You will join an organization that is  recognized nationally as a leader in developing innovative approaches to auditing government activities.

A Career Development Program

We have a financial audit student program for students at the bachelor level who are actively seeking a professional accounting designation.

Articling With Us

Our Office is an approved audit training office—recognized by all three accounting organizations. Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Certified General Accountants, and Certified Management Accountants.

At the same time as you are dedicating yourself toward obtaining your professional designation you will be acquiring valuable experience in the work of our Office. Our goal is to help you become a qualified and competent professional through a balance of training and experience.

We will assist you and compensate you when you are preparing for and writing your exams.

For students pursuing the Chartered Accountant designation, you will meet the necessary tax experience requirements through an external assignment with a public accounting firm during the tax season.

As a financial audit student, much of your training will come from different work assignments. You will be challenged by a wide range of work experiences in both large and small organizations, and with systems that range from manual to those driven by state-of-the-art computers. You will have the opportunity to work on audits and assignments throughout the provincial government—in individual ministries and agencies, and in Crown corporations—where you will gain invaluable experience.

Our screening criteria for students are as follows:

1)   a junior student as some one who has:

2)   for senior students we look for someone who has completed:

Here are three websites. The first is for the training school for the Chartered Accountants association, the second is the Certified Management Account society and the 3rd is for the Certified General Accountant society, CGA.

Career Choices

We can offer you, as a university graduate or post-graduate, a long-term career opportunity.

Depending on your background, you may select from a variety of options for specialization as a member of one of our Sectoral audit teams, however the organizational goal is to develop individuals that are proficient in all areas:

Financial audits, in which auditors provide independent assurance that the financial information provided to the legislature by the government is credible, and that government manages its financial affairs with integrity using sound financial controls;

Performance audits, in which auditors examine whether public money is spent wisely by government—whether value is received for the money spent;

Compliance audits, in which auditors assess whether the government is complying with legislation governing its financial, administrative, environmental and other activities, and is meeting expected standards of conduct.

Specialization in computer auditing.

Looking to Your Future

Whatever your career choice, we will provide you with an environment in which you can develop your skills while advancing to more responsible leadership positions.
